Ultraview Button
As I progress in my archery game I try to pick up more and more of what the professionals are are using. One of the biggest things I pick up on is seeing all of these legendary archers using different equipment, at first I didn’t think anything of it. The more I listen to Clint Casper talk about target panic when it comes up on his podcast he brings up how much shooting a back tension release has improved his target panic. Growing up I used a index finger release, pretty basic to start kids on but now I wish someone would’ve made me pick up a hinge or thumb button as soon as I was getting comfortable shooting the bow.
I picked up a cheap $100 thumb button release from my local pro shop and figured fuck it I’ll give it a shot (pun intended). So after I pick it up I decide I’m going to go by myself so I can really focus on my form and shot process, which would’ve been a good idea if I wouldn’t have went it was busy. So I went about it, first shot was fine, I'm a little nervous using it because it’s new but no big deal what’s the worst that can happen. The worse did happen. My sweaty hands launched the release through my bow, nothing horrible happened, I busted one side of my drop-away rest, and was so embarrassed I paid for my time and got the hell out of there.
About 5 months go by, we shoot outdoor 3D shoots all summer, laugh and have fun and I just can’t get it out of my head that the guys I look up to, use something different than I do. It really bothers me, so I decide that this winter I’m going to give her the old college try again. Sure enough, my friend Derek and I get a membership at a local archery club and I start flinging arrows a few days a week with my cheap junk release. I like it, I feel like my shot process is simpler, my form got better, and I was more confident in my shot. So I broke down and spent the money on the Utraview Button, let me tell you it is unbelievable the difference in the two releases, I read the manual and went through and adjusted everything the way I wanted it, and started shooting.
First thoughts out of the box, the feel of this release is incredible it fits like a glove. Everyones hands are different but I think they killed it with the fit of this. The button is grooved to almost make you feel like you are shooting a hinge, you can put a little bit of pressure on the button and push and pull the bow apart and execute the shot. I didn’t know how much I liked clipping it onto the D-loop, that’s really the only thing that I don’t like this far, and its not something I hate, my D-loop is just a little lose so it takes me a second to get it on, but I like that I can put it on there and leave it on while in the stand. Thank you guys for reading.
Much love.
